This Privacy Policy explains how Rocket Data Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the Intention app (the “App”), including iPhone and Apple Watch versions.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who we are
Data controller: Rocket Data Ltd
Contact (privacy): apps@rocketdata.co.nz
2. Summary
Intention is a timer and session-tracking app.
The App stores your timer presets and completion records on your device and, when available, syncs them through your personal iCloud account using Apple CloudKit (no separate Intention account).
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the App as described in this policy.
If you allow Health access, the App may:
- Write a lightweight workout session (for example, Mind & Body) while a timer is active.
- Read heart rate data during active sessions, from Apple Watch when connected, or from Apple Health/HealthKit data available on iPhone as a fallback.
Health access is optional and controlled by you in Apple permissions.
3. Information the App processes
3.1 Timer data (presets and completions)
The App stores information you create or generate, including:
- Timer presets: names, durations, directions, interval settings, display preferences, and related configuration.
- Completion records: timestamps when you complete sessions and references to presets.
This data is stored using SwiftData.
If iCloud/CloudKit is available and you are signed in, this data may sync to your private CloudKit database associated with your Apple ID.
If CloudKit is unavailable, data may be stored locally only.
We use this data to provide core functionality (saving timers, history, sync). We do not use it for advertising.
3.2 Apple iCloud and CloudKit
When sync is active, Apple processes synced data under Apple’s infrastructure and terms.
Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
We do not receive your Apple ID password.
3.3 Health information (Apple Watch and iPhone)
If you grant Health permission, the App may request access to:
- Workout data (read/write).
- Heart rate data (read).
How this is used:
- To keep timer behavior and feedback more reliable while sessions run (especially on Apple Watch).
- To support in-session heart rate features when available.
Data sources:
- Apple Watch heart rate during active sessions when watch is connected.
- Apple Health/HealthKit data on iPhone as fallback when watch data is unavailable.
Important limits:
- We do not sell, use for advertising, or use for marketing your health data.
- We do not share your health data with data brokers.
- We do not store personal health information in our own CloudKit/iCloud database or on our own servers.
- Health data remains managed by Apple Health/HealthKit under your Apple settings.
You can change or revoke Health access anytime in the Health app under Sharing → Apps (or in iOS Settings).
3.4 Notifications
If enabled, the App schedules local notifications (for example, timer completion and interval alerts).
Notification content is generated on device.
We do not use notifications for advertising analytics.
You can disable notifications in iOS/watchOS settings.
3.5 Information we do not intentionally collect
The App is not designed to:
- Collect your contacts, photos, or precise location for our own purposes.
- Perform cross-app tracking for advertising.
- Require a separate Intention account/email for core features.
If you contact support by email, we process your email address and message content only to respond.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract: providing app features you request.
- Legitimate interests: security, bug fixing, support.
- Consent where required: HealthKit and notifications (withdrawable in system settings).
5. Retention and deletion
- On-device app data: kept until you delete it in the App or remove the App (subject to backups and Apple platform behavior).
- CloudKit-synced timer data: retained per your iCloud account and Apple rules.
- Health data: retained in Apple Health according to your Apple Health settings.
- Support emails: kept only as long as needed to handle your request unless law requires otherwise.
6. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you believe we have, contact us at apps@rocketdata.co.nz.
7. International transfers
If you use iCloud/Apple services, Apple may process data internationally under its policies and applicable transfer mechanisms. See Apple privacy documentation for details.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing.
Because much of your data is stored on your device or in your iCloud/Health account, you can often act directly by:
- Deleting presets/history in the App.
- Revoking Health permissions.
- Managing iCloud sync settings.
To exercise rights with us, contact apps@rocketdata.co.nz.
You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
California (CPRA): For practices described here, we do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined by CPRA.
9. Security
We rely on Apple platform security features (such as device encryption, HealthKit permission controls, and iCloud security).
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Use a device passcode and protect your Apple ID.
10. Medical disclaimer
Intention is a wellness/productivity app and is not a medical device or diagnostic tool.
It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease, and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
We will post the updated version in the App or at the same URL and update the “Last updated” date.
Continued use after changes means acceptance unless law requires otherwise.
12. Apple App Store
This policy supplements Apple’s App Store terms and Apple’s own processing of data on Apple platforms.
Apple may collect usage and diagnostic information under Apple’s policies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
